How do I reset my Hygger light? ›

In the non-DIY mode, long press the “UP” and “DOWN” buttons at the same time for a few seconds, once the “SOP” appears in the display, then unplug the power. After that, you can plug in the power again and reset it. Long press the “Light setting” button until the light goes off.

Full-spectrum bulbs, or daylight bulbs, produce light from all wavelengths of visible light which produces an effect similar to that of natural daylight. This type of lighting is good for all types of aquariums, both freshwater and saltwater.

That all depends upon which plants you have chosen for your aquarium. If you have chosen nothing but "Easy" plants, 10-20 lumen (0.25 to 0.5 watts) per litre is adequate. For "Medium" plants, we recommend 20-40 lumen (0.5 to 1 watts) per litre, while "Advanced" plants require more than 40 lumens (1 watt) per litre.

FULL RGB SPECTRUM

This is our go-to spectrum and we HIGHLY recommend this spectrum for most freshwater aquariums. Nothing brings out the vivid colors and enhances your tank like a full, rich RGB (Red,Green,Blue) spectrum of light. It not only makes your fish pop in color, it also won't promote algae growth.

On the contrary, blue and red will let the light through to be photosynthesised; green will inhibit growth the best as the algae will reflect that light back instead of absorbing it.

Aside from that, the 957 light fits fish tanks and planted aquariums. As it can brighten the fish, but also promote photosynthesis and assist the growth of aquatic plants. On the other side, the 978 light is an excellent alternative to fish-only and planted tanks. It can bring out the colors of your fish and plants.

How long should I keep my aquarium lights on? To provide animals and plants the lighting they need, 10 to 12 hours a day is sufficient. Installing a timer or purchasing a unit with integrated timing can make lighting easier––just set it and forget it. Keep in mind algae loves light as well.

How do I know if my aquarium plants aren't getting enough light? ›

Lack of light

It often happens that the lighting in the aquarium is not sufficient for some plants. In such cases, some plants become stretched, and the stems between the leaves (internodes) lengthen. This sparse growth indicates that the plant wants to move towards the lighter part of the surface.

A low number indicates warm light. Think, fireplace or candlelight quality (red and orange hues). A higher number indicates a cooler light like daylight and hospital lighting (whites and blues). Standard ranges are around 2700k on the warm side to over 5000k on the cool side.

Earlier it was common with light levels in the range 100 - 300 lux for normal activities. Today the light level is more common in the range 500 - 1000 lux - depending on activity.

LEDs are diodes which are elecronic devices that only allow current to go through them in one direction. This means that LEDs (and other diodes) have positive (+) and negative (-) sides to them. For an LED to work it needs to be connected to a voltage source with the correct side.

What color does fish see best? Most fish can't see colors in the same way that humans can. They rely more on detecting contrast and brightness than they do on color. The colors that are easiest for fish to detect are likely the darker shades of blue, green, and violet.

Overall, green light attracts the most fish. Green has a high lumen output of 130 per LED alongside a 520 nm wavelength. Shrimp and insects have both of these wavelengths in their color vision alongside green light receptors around 530 um.

Grab a brush and some baking soda. Bicarbonate, the active ingredient in baking soda, is an effective spot treatment to help kill the algae and loosen it from the wall.

Since Algae is like most plants that thrive off sunshine, depriving them of light will prevent and/or eliminate its growth. The key is to completely shade the tank or aquarium from light for several days (A minimum of 4 day and a maximum of 7 days).

But in general, the lighting shouldn't be too bright for a regular tank since it could stress the fish. Too-bright lighting can also lead to algae growth.

HIDE THE LED LIGHT

Whichever you choose, its best to make sure the LED is located at the very top or bottom aquarium edge. Ideally, place the light below the level of your substrate. This cast light more effectively and help prevent LED light “hot spots”.

Too much light causes more algae growth. Reduce the time the aquarium lights are on to eight hours, or a bit less if necessary, to help reduce the algae growth. Monitoring algae levels can, therefore, help you determine if your lighting levels are appropriate.

You can use almost any type or brand of light to grow plants as long as you have enough light intensity, but we highly recommend getting an LED light – rather than fluorescent, compact fluorescent (CF), or other light technology.

Aquatic plants do best with 10 to 12 hours of light per day. Leaving the light on longer will not compensate for weak lighting. It's also important to create a consistent day/night cycle. If your aquarium light does not have a built-in timer, use a timer or digital power center to provide a consistent photoperiod.

The consequence of using high light is that the growth rate of plants increase and so does the growth rate of algae. Growth rate is not the same as health. Tanks using high light and poor CO2, or poor nutrition can have plants that grow quickly but which have algae or which have other health problems.

When plants lack light, they don't produce chlorophyll (the green pigment in plants), and plants can turn pale green to yellow to white. Plant stems become “leggy,” meaning stems become long and thin and appear to be reaching toward the source of light.

There is no need for CO2 injection at night. The main symptoms of carbon deficiency are: (1) necrosis, (2) chlorosis, (3) stunted growth, and (4) twisted leaves. Necrosis is the death of plant tissues, turning it brown. Chlorosis is the yellowing of leaves as chlorophyll begins to die.

Start with the light strip plugged in and OFF for at least 5 seconds. Turn the strip ON for 8 seconds, then OFF for 2 seconds. Do this 5 times. Once the light strip flashes 3 times, the strip has been reset.

If the LEDs will not light up at all, then this could be down to a faulty power supply. Solution: If you have several power supplies, then try a different power supply onto the same strip to see if this now works. If it does, then you have a faulty power supply and will need a new one.

Blue light is frequently used in aquariums to mark the days and nights out for the fish or for fishkeepers to get a clear view of their tank. Blue light is harmful to fish if it is incorrectly used. However, most fishkeepers use blue lighting in their tanks with no ill effects.

If you have a digital timer, use the buttons to set the time you want lights to turn off and on. If it's a dial, turn it to the correct time setting. If it's a smart timer, use your phone and the required app. Typically once your timer is set, there will be an indicator that it is.
